Newsletter - November 2009

A month of many thanks...

November is a time for family and for being thankful for what we have. It's not always easy but it's important to be grateful for our bodies and for our good  health. We should remember that many are not so fortunate!

Being good to our bodies is especially tough with this season full of holiday challenges - stress, tempting foods, lack of sleep, and so on. This is the time to take control and be aware; make good decisions, prepare for the holidays; get plenty of rest; and drink lots of water!

Incidentally, did you know there are actually more incidences of dehydration in cool weather than in hot weather? The simple reason is we feel less thirsty when we're cool.  But dehydration can and does occur in cool weather and it's often mistaken for hunger.  When that happens we often turn to food when we really just need a glass of water.  So once again, be aware.

Introducing Sandy KoslowskiPhoto of Sandy

I'm very happy to welcome a new trainer, Sandy Koslowski, to our studio.  In the next month I hope you'll have the opportunity to meet her during a class.  Sandy and her family have recently relocated to Aptos from Wisconsin and just love our beautiful California weather.  Sandy will be helping with classes in the studio and will also offer extended hours for those needing earlier or later classes during the week.

Sandy also teaches at Gold's Gym in Watsonville  and will be offering a morning class with the Santa Cruz County Recreation Center starting in January.  We are very fortunate to have such an experienced, certified trainer to be with us at The Body Shop Fitness Studio.
